Institute joins other State Agencies in planting trees in Kitui County

A group of the Institute’s staff joined their colleagues from various agencies under the State Department of Industry in a tree planting exercise in Kitui County.
The Institute’s team, backed by 200 pupils, 16 teachers and parents of Kwa Ukungu Comprehensive Primary School, planted 500 Grevillea and Cypress tree seedlings in the School, which is located in Kalundu Zone, Kyangwithya East Sub-location, Kitui Centra Sub-County, Kitui County.
The tree planting exercise, which was conducted on 15th October, 2025 in different learning institutions, was part of the pre-celebration activities for the 2025 Mashujaa Day, which was held on 20th on October, 2025 at Ithookwe Stadium, Kitui County, 2025.
The State Department mobilised and coordinated the exercise to contribute towards the Government’s National Tree Growing and Restoration Campaign seeking to grow 15 billion trees for restoration of 10.6 million hectares by 2032. The exercise saw the SDI’s different Agencies, including the Institute planting trees in in the following institutions: -
